From time to time we come across foundations or philanthropic organizations with funding priorities that align with the goals of Career Choices. Check back here often, because we'll be adding to this list.
The Coca-Cola Foundation makes grants to programs that encourage students to stay in school and plan for college. They also support projects that boost minority representative in higher education.
This could be another great fit Career Choices -- whether you're using it in an in-school, after-school, or summer program.
This foundation accepts proposals year-round, and K-12 public school, universities, and colleges are all eligible.

The Calvin K. Kazanjian Economics Foundation supports projects that promote economic literacy through education. Specifically, they are interested in funding programs that seek to reduce "the large number of students at risk of leaving school, and hence never effectively participating in the nation's economic system."
If you're using Career Choices and Lifestyle Math, this might be a great opportunity to find the funding to expand your program.
This foundation accepts grant proposals twice each year. Applications submitted by February 15 will be reviewed in May, and applications submitted by September 15 will be considered in November.
Your organization must be a nonprofit in order to be eligible for a grant.

The Merrill Lynch Foundation is accepting funding proposals from programs that serve "an ethnically diverse population" of underserved youth. The focus areas for fundable projects are:
- Academic support
- Workforce preparation
- Digital divide
- GED programs linked to four-year colleges
- Life skills
- Personal finance
- Mentoring

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) sponsor the Eleanor Roosevelt Teacher Fellowships.
Awards are available in three areas:
- Professional Development Fellowships -- up to $5,000 for various professional development activities, including sponsoring school-based gender equity programs
- Project Implementation Grants -- up to $10,000 to support a program to advance gender equity in the classroom or school
- Dissemination Grants -- up to $2,000 to fund the sharing of information on gender equity projects
Career Choices would be an ideal fit for these projects, especially considering the "Promising Intervention" citation it received from the US Department of Education's Gender Equity Expert Panel.

In 1998 Deborah and Carlos Santana established the Milagro Foundation. Milagro is the Spanish word for "miracle" and the foundation's focus is serving "at-risk, underrepresented, and disadvantaged youth."
The foundation supports educational programs provided by community-based tax-exempt organizations around the world with grants generally ranging from $2,500 to $5,000.

The NEA Foundation for the Improvement of Education accepts grant applications for their Innovation grants throughout the year. Innovation grants are awarded to two or more colleagues wishing to "create and use new ideas resulting in high student achievement." The foundation awards $2,000 grants (up to 250 each year).
Eligible applicants include K-12 public school teachers, public school support personnel, or faculty/staff at public colleges and universities.
Proposed projects should increase students' knowledge of a standards-based content area while cultivating critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The William Bingham Foundation accepts letters of inquiry year-round from nonprofits. One area in which the foundation makes grants is education. Your letter of inquiry should be no more than two pages in length. Letters should outline the nature of the project, budget requirements, and the amount requested.
Past grantees include Girl Scouts of Rhode Island, Los Angeles County High School for the Arts Foundation, and Nome Public Schools.

American Express has three areas in which they focus their philanthropic efforts, one of which is economic independence. Their hope is to "encourage, develop and sustain economic self-reliance."
