Technology and Curriculum Support Associate

Supervisor: Vice President of Operations for Technical Support projects

Project-based work with: Vice President of Marketing & Director of Communications (as noted)

GOAL:

To provide services and information that will encourage and support educators who adopt the Career Choices curriculum and promote the use of any or all of the Career Choices curriculum enhancements. The outcome of these services should be more satisfied and successful teachers who, as a result, will order more books and institutionalize their Career Choices program across one full grade level.

Qualifications:

  • Former classroom teacher or educational administrator, preferably at the secondary level
  • Gregarious, with a supportive nature -- a mentor
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and computer skills
  • Strategic thinker
  • Self-starter
  • Must like talking on the phone because our customers are all over the country
  • Someone who is passionate about helping educators transform their classrooms and wants to make a difference in thousands of young people's lives

Primary Tasks

Welcome and orientation of new adopt-size customers

  1. Call teachers related to new adopt-size orders to thank them for their order and gather data on their program. Information is entered into GoldMine database. Introduce new adopt-size orders to our curriculum and technical support services, as well as all online enhancements. Ultimate goal: Make a friend.
  2. Report findings to appropriate in-house educational consultant, if there is one assigned to the account.

Support our best customers

  1. Contact by phone each top/adopt teacher/administrator at least 3 times per year to check in, provide information on all our online resources and also identify needs for curriculum and technical support. Help us become the "Nordstroms of textbook publishing".
  2. During phone conversations with teachers using Career Choices, identify successful practices for inclusion in upcoming editions of the Instructor's Guide, newsletters, success stories, how-to examples, and Internet vignettes. Collect data as per SOP.
  3. Seek out schools that qualify for our medal (gold, silver, bronze) recognition and encourage others to try to reach this level of excellence.
  4. Coach /monitor all staff who are on the phones or answering the phone on the concept of top accounts, how to identify top accounts and how to make sure these accounts are handed off to either Tanja or an EC before the phone call is finalized.

Build a community of Career Choices users and teachers

  1. Promote the Career Choices Users Group and the online Teachers' Lounge
  2. Monitor and facilitate the Career Choices users group. This is a monitored forum and must be checked every day.
  3. Work with VP of Operations, VP of Marketing, and Director of Communications to strategize how to help our customers through the Internet.
  4. Provide examples of best practices uncovered in your conversations and those of the EC's with clients to Tanja so she can submit a weekly posting to users group.
  5. Connect top schools to each other, providing referrals to Master Teachers.
  6. Work with Director of Technology to identify technology needs of teachers.

Master Teacher recruitment/Lead Teacher identification

  1. Under the direction of the VP of Operations, develop a corps of master teachers throughout the country as per SOP process.
  2. Under the directions of the VP of Marketing, recruit master teachers to make presentations in their states at meeting and conference as per SOP
  3. Develop relationships with champion teachers at top schools. Recruit quotes and stories and provide introduction to the Director of Communications.

Provide technical assistance to all school accounts using company web sites

  1. Through the medium of the Internet and email, provide technical support about the above websites directly to customers by responding to customer requests by email and phone. Forward all other questions to either tech support or an in-house educational consultant.
  2. Take calls directed by Educational Consultants assisting clients with detailed curriculum requests as they relate to the web sites above. Forward when appropriate to Tanja.
  3. Become the online enhancement expert, the individual who can help schools develop their online program and lesson plans.
  4. Promote the use of the pre- and post-course survey and digital tool. Monitor their use and report findings to VP of Curriculum Support.

As time allows

  1. Follow up by phone with workshop participants based on survey responses.
  2. In-house staff development regarding Internet enhancements - Under the direction of the Director of Communications
  3. Gather content for web sites
  4. Administrative tasks for online enhancements: The Teachers' Lounge, www.my10yearplan.com, www.careerchoices.com, and www.lifesylemath.com

Hours: The job description here is for a full-time position. We can modify it to fit a part-time schedule for the right candidate. Full-time hours would be Monday - Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM in our St. George office. (Flex time allowed for parenting responsibilities.)

Compensation: Dependent on experience and skill level. When applying, please indicate hourly rate desired.
