As Chancellor of one of the largest community college districts in the state of California, Mr. Martinez oversees a district that covers one-quarter of the land area of Orange County, registers an annual enrollment of more than 50,000 students, and is one of the largest employers in the region with more than 2,000 employees. His career spans over 30 years in the California community college system, where he was a Past-President on the Chief Executive Officers of the California Community Colleges (CEOCCC) Board. He has been dedicated to ensuring success for community college students at institutions such as Cerritos College, Santa Monica College, Los Angeles Harbor College, and East Los Angeles College. As Chancellor, Martinez maintains oversight of the district’s two colleges, Centennial and Orange Continuing Education Centers, the Digital Media Center, the Orange County Regional Fire Training Center, the Orange County Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy, and the district operations center. At Rancho Santiago CCD, current enrollment is trending upwards in the double digits amid today’s issues and challenges our students and faculty face.

  • What the adult learner returning to school wants––and how to deliver it
  • Strategies for recruitment for special populations such as international students and the military
  • First-Year Experience courses that motivate students to complete

Attendance is limited to Community College Chancellors and Community College CEOs/Presidents.

Please note: This institute has been designed to promote leadership and excellence.

There is a maximum of 25 participants, encouraging high-level engagement. Therefore, registration must be limited to community college CEOs/Presidents only.

After October 24th, if there is room, a college CEO/President may send a designate. Those participants will be taken off a waiting list in the order they were registered.


Wednesday, November 9th
9:00 AM to 9:30 AM - Check-in
9:30 AM to 4:30 PM - Day one sessions
4:30 PM - Networking social hour followed by dinner

Thursday, November 10th
8:00 AM to 8:30 AM - Check-in and continental breakfast
8:30 AM to 2:00 PM - Day two sessions

An optional no-host networking event will be planned for the evening of Tuesday, November 8th.
