Bring Dain to your campus to share with students how a vision, when coupled with energy and perseverance, leads to success.
For the past 13 years,
Dain Blanton has traveled the world representing the USA in beach volleyball. Dain Blanton, along with
teammate Eric Fonoimoana,
struck gold at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney after upsetting the world’s top seeded men’s beach volleyball team. More than 10,000 spectators cheered as Blanton and Fonoimoana played a near perfect tournament, stunning the Brazilians in straight sets.
Winning the gold medal was not the first milestone in Dain Blanton’s career. In 1997, Dain took his place as a pioneer in the sport when he became the first professional African-American player in the history of beach volleyball to win a major title. He also returned to the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, becoming the first and only male beach volleyball player to represent the United States in two Olympic Games.
Dain followed his passion for beach volleyball to Pepperdine University in Malibu where he graduated with a degree in Public Relations and acquired his teaching credential. Dain is currently working in sports broadcasting, reporting for Fox Sports West and Prime Ticket covering NBA (LA Clippers), MLB (Dodgers, Angels) NCAA hoops and football (USC, UCLA), as well as volleyball (AVP,FIVB, NCAA).
Dain continues to break new ground and hopes to
inspire and motivate others and create opportunities for the next generation. Bring Dain to your campus to share with students how a vision, when coupled with energy and perseverance, leads to success.
